Comprehensive Pulmonary Services
Capri at the Pointe Rehab specializes in respiratory care. The Pulmonary Services Team consists of MD Physicians (Pulmonologists), Licensed and Registered Respiratory Therapists and our Licensed and Registered Nursing Staff.
The goal of Capri at the Pointe Rehabs’ ventilator-weaning program is to reduce and, possibly eliminate a patient’s dependence from a ventilator for breathing. Attempts at taking a patient off of the ventilator are an important step in a patient's recovery that may be long and difficult. At Capri at the Pointe Rehab, expert teams of respiratory therapists oversee a highly successful, nationally recognized program designed to help individuals who have otherwise been unable to wean from mechanical ventilation.
Weaning patients from mechanical ventilation is perhaps the most recognized and fundamental clinical program provided by Capri at the Pointe Rehab. Patients referred to Capri at the Pointe Rehab for this needed service are compromised on many levels due to illness. These are the patients who have failed to wean in the short-term acute care setting (hospital) and need much more time and attention for their weaning process.
Capri at the Pointe Rehab offers a unique focus that brings specialized resources for the purpose of successfully weaning a majority of the patients off of the ventilator and/or tracheostomy. An experienced and knowledgeable respiratory staff works with each patient to either wean them from the ventilator/tracheostomy or provide education on self-management techniques.
A major factor in the success of our Rehab Program is Capri at the Pointes’ commitment by our staff of therapists and restorative nurses. The use professional experienced therapist’s strengthens continuity of care and supports our team approach to our patients’ rehab.
The focus of our program is to assist in recovery so that each person can remain as independent as possible and return home! From the beginning of your stay, your therapist works together with your social worker, nursing, nutrition and your family to make sure that any needs or services are in place when you are ready to return home.
